The Pearls of Faith have been singing Gospel music for more than 20 years. The late Elbert S. Wright originally started the group in 1976. Before moving to South Carolina in 1976 Elbert was a member of a group going by the same name in Plainfield NJ.

Elbert's main focus with the Pearls of Faith was helping others by accepting, loving and helping those that were sometimes rejected and overlooked by other choirs and groups. Virtually all of the group's singers and musicians, including those that have moved on to other endeavors, learned to sing and play after being accepted by the Pearls of Faith. The group especially reached out to the youth many of, which had no transportation or other resources to support the group. No one was turned away and everyone was picked up and carried back home (In a sometimes very crowded van) from practice twice a week and singing programs on weekends.

After many years of service and the release of our first album (He brought us out all right) the Lord has allowed us to become well known in a large portion of South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia.

The title cut of our first album He brought me out all right was inspired by the Lord magnificent saving and delivering power in bringing us through the tragic death of Elbert Wright SR, Susie Wright (wife), Phyllis McCullough (oldest daughter), Candie McCullough (Daughter of Phyllis) and Debrielle Williamson (Daughter of Traci Williamson) in an automobile accident. Three other Pearls of Faith group members were in the vehicle but survived with major injuries. They were Traci Williamson (daughter of Elbert), Bernadette Wright (daughter of Elbert) and Tyrone Wright (Son of Phyllis McCullough).

We sing and talk about this tragic event not to indulge ourselves in sorrow or to request sympathy from others but to let everyone know that no matter what circumstance or hopeless "looking" situation we are allowed to face we can be sure that Jesus Christ the all Knowing, loving, caring, wondrous, magnificent, never failing, victorious, powerful, omnipresent... Son of God is able to take us through and bring us out all right.

We the Pearls of Faith intend to spread this message and others relating to the Good News of Jesus Christ as far and wide as we possibly can.
